β οΈ 5 Pain Points Every Industrial Sourcing Manager Faces
High Total Cost of Ownership
Hidden logistics, duty & rework costs inflate budgets by 18β35% when sourcing from unfamiliar suppliers.
Inconsistent Quality
Off-grade ferrous material leads to 22% rejection rates in machining & fabrication (IndustryWeek, 2025).
High Shipping Costs
Container rates from Asia to NA/EU still 40% above pre-2022 levels β every kilo matters.
Compliance & Certification Gaps
Missing CE, ASTM, or ISO documents can delay shipments by 6β10 weeks at customs.
Long Lead Times
Small mills often quote 60β90 days for custom grades β production halts cost you revenue.
Technical Uncertainty
Unclear material specs (e.g. yield strength, machinability) cause costly trial-and-error in production.
π You're not alone. 73% of procurement teams report material quality & lead time as their top risks (Deloitte 2025). Let's fix that.
π What Is Ferrous Metal? β Definition & Basics
Ferrous metal is any metal that contains iron (Fe) as its primary element. These alloys form the backbone of modern industrial infrastructure β from bridges and pipelines to precision machined parts.
- β Carbon Steel β high strength, low cost, weldable
- β Alloy Steel β tailored properties (Cr, Ni, Mo)
- β Stainless Steel β corrosion resistance, hygiene
- β Cast Iron β wear resistance, damping
- β Continuous Cast Iron Bar β our specialty, zero porosity
π Key distinction: Ferrous metals are magnetic and have high tensile strength β unlike non-ferrous (aluminum, copper). They dominate construction, automotive, and heavy machinery.

β Frequently Asked Questions β Ferrous Metal Sourcing
πΉ What is the difference between ferrous and non-ferrous metal?
Ferrous metals contain iron (e.g., steel, cast iron) β they are magnetic, strong, and prone to rust. Non-ferrous metals (aluminum, copper, brass) contain no iron β they are lighter, corrosion-resistant, and non-magnetic. For heavy structural and mechanical applications, ferrous is the standard.
πΉ What grades of ferrous metal do you supply?
We supply carbon steel (A36, 1018, 1045, 4140), alloy steel (8620, 4340, 52100), stainless steel (304, 316, 430), and continuous cast iron bar (GG25, GG30, GGG40, GGG50). Custom grades available upon request with minimum order quantities.
πΉ What are your typical lead times?
For standard grades and sizes: 10β18 working days from order confirmation. For custom specifications or large volumes: 25β35 working days. We also offer express production (5β7 days) for urgent orders β contact us for availability.
πΉ Do you provide samples for testing?
Yes β free samples for qualified buyers. You pay only the shipping cost. Samples are cut from production stock with full material traceability. Request your sample kit.
πΉ How do you handle quality control?
Every batch undergoes chemical analysis (spectrometer), mechanical testing (tensile, hardness), and dimensional inspection. We issue a Mill Test Certificate (EN 10204 3.1) for each shipment. Third-party inspection (SGS, BV, TΓV) is also available.
πΉ What are your shipping terms?
We offer FOB (Tianjin/Qingdao), CIF, CFR, DDP, and EXW. For regular customers, we can negotiate consolidated shipping to reduce freight costs. We ship via sea, air, or express (DHL/FedEx) for small orders.
πΉ Can you supply custom sizes or machined parts?
Absolutely. We supply OEM/ODM machined parts (turning, milling, drilling, grinding) from our ferrous metal stock. Our engineering team works from your drawings β ISO 2768-m or custom tolerances.
πΉ What payment methods do you accept?
We accept T/T (bank transfer), L/C (irrevocable), Western Union, and PayPal for smaller amounts. For first-time buyers, we typically require 30% deposit, 70% against BL copy. Long-term customers may qualify for net 30/60 terms.
